When you let go of who you thought you'd be
Navigating the silent in-between

There’s an emptiness that follows when you choose to make choices that align with who you are becoming.
Our world tells us that busy is better & your life must be full or you are lazy. Our minds are conditioned to always be working, always be moving. Because of that, you have been on a hamster wheel trying to figure out how to fit in, how to make it work, how to succeed, how to balance it all, how to manage expectations of others…
But you’ve chosen to step off that hamster wheel, and now you are met with stillness that feels both freeing and terrifying.
This is the in-between.
It is uncomfortable.
And it’s completely normal.
Right now, you might feel untethered, as though you’re floating without direction. The noise of a “busy life” is gone, but in it’s place, there’s a quiet that feels almost too much to bear.
This stage is necessary for your mind & heart need time to recalibrate, to adjust to the stillness so you can finally hear your own voice.
It’s uncomfortable because it’s new.
It’s challenging because it’s unfamiliar.
But this is where the real transformation happens.
If you’re in this silent in-between, take a deep breath. You’re exactly where you need to be. In fact, few people have the courage to let go of what doesn’t serve them & have the chance to step into this space of discovery.
So instead of rushing to sooth the uncomfortable feeling, I invite you to embrace it. See this time as a rare gift you have given yourself. This is your chance to rebuild in a way that aligns with your truest self.
Welcome it with open arms.
How to Move Through this Time with Intention
Have grace for yourself
Release the need to be “productive” every moment. Follow what you feel like doing in the day & don’t second guess or judge if it’s productive or not. Give yourself permission to pause, reflect, and simply be.
Experiment with daily rhythms
You have more space in your day to figure out what rhythms that actually nourish you instead of drain you. In the past, you might have chosen running because it was supposed to be the best thing for you - but in reality, maybe yoga brings you more peace & happiness. You used to never have the mental energy for a 5 minute gratitude reflection at the end of the day, now you do. Start small with creating intentional morning and evening routines & see what feels best. If it feels like you are doing it because you should instead of because you want to, let it go.
Take time to write your thoughts
Thoughts will come, don’t overthink them, they are part of the journey of clarity of yourself. Because you are holding & protecting this additional space in your life, your brain will more easily send you thoughts. Carry a journal with you or use your phone notes to jot them down as they come to you.
Stay connected to supportive positive relationships
Don’t hide away alone (I’m talking to you introverts), as humans, we need authentic connection with others - now you have time to do that. Schedule a coffee date with someone you admire, or who always makes you feel seen, join a community of like-minded women.
Start to experiment
You have left what doesn’t serve you behind, & now you get to bring it what does. You might have an idea of what it looks like & that idea might be followed with fear of the unknown. The only way to get rid of that fear is to make things known. Which means, you have to actually DO something. In experimenting, you are learning, so approach implementing ideas as an act of learning instead of the end all be all. You’ll find that you will gain more clarity & confidence faster than if you had the perfect plan.
You are doing what few have the courage to face. Keep going my friend.
Cheers,
Lauren
